ReplyDeleteA science fiction/horror classic. I saw it in the theater as a new release. On the big screen it is truly terrifying. You can't pause to take a breath and you don't want to look away for fear you'll miss something. I can hardly believe the premiere was 45 years ago.

DeleteI saw the film's premiere in London, seated before the huge screen of the Odeon theatre in Leicester Square. From the opening minutes, I found myself utterly overwhelmed and completely engulfed in the story.
Given my claustrophobia and fear of complete darkness, you can imagine the impact the film had on me.

ReplyDeleteFor the first time (as I paused the video), I noticed that the instructions for the Emergency Destruct System are given in both English and French — the reason why, I'm unsure of. Was the spaceship built by the French?
However, the French instructions are riddled with mistakes, making them nearly incomprehensible.
en 78 , "rencontres du 3ème type" enchanta mes neurones et mes mirettes puis deux ans plus tard, Alien I puis 82 Alien II avec une séquence de survol de ma maison par une escadrille d'hélicoptères de combats , imaginez le décor sonore quand l'héroïne se bat avec l'énorme roue aspirante ....

DeleteJe me suis récemment amouraché d'un film de SF sans le moindre effet , totalement cérébral, mais dont le scénario repose uniquement mais sûrement sur la crédibilité de l'intrigue. Si ça vous intéresse, voir : OVNI (https://www.allocine.fr/video/player_gen_cmedia=19579958&cfilm=265902.html). Très peu d'action dans le film, juste une partie d'échecs entre une civilisation ET et des physiciens qui pressentent leur existence. J'ai craqué. Avec Gillian Anderson, géniale dans le rôle de la prof de physique blasée et condescendante, et le garçon qui joue l'un des rôles principaux dans "Le problème à trois corps".
