DAY 425 | Kevin Spacey found not guilty on all charges in U.K. sexual assault trial

Guilty until Proven Innocent

Sharks are attracted to blood. Plaintiffs to easy money.

Acquitted on all charges

American actor Kevin Spacey was found not guilty Wednesday of all the sexual assault charges he was facing in a U.K. trial.

The actor had faced nine sexual offense charges related to incidents reported by four men that allegedly took place between 2001 and 2013.

The Academy Award-winning actor had pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

Spacey, 64, was acquitted in London's Southwark Crown Court of charges including sexual assault, causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity.

All four of the alleged victims — who can't be named under U.K. law — testified during the trial, as did Spacey himself, who said he was crushed by the allegations.

In their testimony, the four men described Spacey a "sexual bully" and a predator.

Kevin Spacey wept and said he was humbled after being cleared of sexual assault in one of the UK’s most high-profile #MeToo trials.

The Oscar-winning actor sobbed in the dock as he was found not guilty of sexually assaulting four men after a four-week trial at Southwark crown court.

Wearing a dark suit, pink shirt and burgundy pocket square and tie, Spacey looked to his legal team as jurors cleared him of nine sexual offences against four men over nine years.

As he stood in the dock, the Hollywood star put his hand on his chest and looked to the jurors and mouthed: “Thank you, thank you.”

The judge, Mr Justice Mark Wall, praised the lawyers in the case and said: “The defendant may be discharged.”

"Money, money"

Spacey had denied the charges – claiming the allegations against him were “madness”, “absolute bollocks” and a “stab in the back”. He claimed the men were financially motivated and that one was after “money, money, and then money”.

Spacey starred in the Netflix series "House of Cards" until he was fired [emphasis mine] in 2017 after fellow actor Anthony Rapp accused him [emphasis mine] of prior sexual misconduct.

A jury in Massachusetts later found him not liable on those allegations.

  3. very pleased to see this verdict. We’ve seen repeated cases in the U.K. of famous people suffering false accusations that have ruined their lives.

  4. He wasn't just fired by Netflix from the hit series "House of Cards", he also got the Green Weenie.

From the Washington Post: "These allegations led to Spacey’s firing from the hit Netflix show “House of Cards,” upending the trajectory of the show’s final season. In August 2022, Spacey was ordered to pay more than $30 million to the show’s producers for losses incurred over his firing."

There's nothing like kicking a guy when he's down.

    1. I initially read "There's nothing like licking a guy when he's down". How Freudian can one be!
